Why mediation

Not adjudication.
A process of arriving.

Mediation is not about one party winning and the other losing. It is a structured conversation — with a skilled, impartial facilitator — in which both parties work toward a resolution they can live with.

Sheikh Junaid brings to this his scholarly grounding in Islamic jurisprudence and his professional training as a mediator. He is not a committee, not an institution, and not a rubber stamp. He is a named expert whose personal skill and knowledge you engage directly.

Where separation becomes necessary, mediation can make it less damaging — especially where children are involved. Where reconciliation is possible, it provides the structure for it to take root.

Questions

Before you book.

Does both parties have to agree to mediate?+

Yes. Mediation is a voluntary process. Both parties need to be willing to participate for it to be effective. The intake consultation helps establish this before sessions begin.

Is mediation confidential?+

Yes. What is discussed in mediation is confidential and cannot ordinarily be used in legal proceedings. Sheikh Junaid treats all sessions with the same strict confidence as his consultation work.

Is this a substitute for a solicitor?+

No. Islamic mediation and legal advice are complementary. Where legal proceedings are involved — particularly civil divorce or child arrangements — you should also take independent legal advice. Sheikh Junaid can recommend appropriate pathways.

Can sessions be held separately with each party?+

The intake consultation can be held separately if preferred. Mediation sessions themselves are typically joint, as the process requires both parties present. Separate sessions can be arranged in specific circumstances — discuss at intake.

Are sessions available in Arabic?+

Yes. Sheikh Junaid is fully fluent in English and Arabic and can conduct sessions in either language or bilingually.
